The forum was organized to support the establishment and attraction of the Second Central Police Academy, aimed at strengthening police education. On this day, Yeongju shared its key attraction strategies and expressed a strong determination to bring the Second Central Police Academy to the city.

The event began with a resolution ceremony, followed by opening remarks, a progress report, and keynote presentations. In the keynote presentations, Professor Lee Yeongsang from Dongyang University gave a talk on "The Current Status and Future of Police Officer Education," while Kim Cheoljin, Head of the Gyeongbuk Economic Research Center, presented "Strategies for Attracting Public Institutions," outlining the necessity of attracting the Second Central Police Academy and the region's response strategies.

In response to the National Police Agency's announcement seeking sites for the Second Central Police Academy, Yeongju proposed two locations. The first is the eastern campus site of Dongyang University, which already has educational and training facilities, making it highly economical and accessible. The second is a site near the Korail Human Resources Development Center in Sunheung-myeon, which, being city-owned land, offers advantages in saving time and costs, as well as potential connections with Sosuseowon and Seonbi Sesang.

Mayor Park Namseo stated, "By attracting the Second Central Police Academy, about 5,000 trainees will stay in Yeongju annually, greatly contributing to revitalizing the local economy and increasing the population," adding, "We will do our utmost to establish Yeongju as the central hub of police education nationwide."

On the 3rd, Yeongju launched a dedicated task force for the attraction effort and is currently preparing foundational response materials and concrete plans in line with the National Police Agency's evaluation criteria. The Police Agency's Site Selection Committee will select three candidate sites through the first round of evaluations on September 20, and after on-site inspections and interviews, the final site will be announced in November.
