The Research and Development Special Zone Promotion Foundation (hereinafter referred to as the Special Zone Foundation) announced on the 9th that it will hold the ‘ConTech Meet Up Day Demand Technology Briefing’ together with SK Ecoplant at the Daedeok Tech Biz Center (TBC) Collaboration Hall on the 10th.
ConTech Meet Up Day is an open innovation technology contest. The purpose of holding the contest is to discover innovative technologies in the environment and semiconductor fields and support win-win cooperation between deep-tech special zone companies and large corporations, from joint development to commercialization.
This year’s ConTech Meet Up Day will proceed by introducing the contest promotion direction and demand technologies in eight contest fields: ▲air pollution reduction ▲environmental facilities ▲offshore wind power ▲semiconductor recycling ▲semiconductor infrastructure ▲artificial intelligence and digital transformation (AI·DT) ▲smart construction ▲others, followed by a Q&A session.
Applicants for the contest are companies within the research and development special zones that possess innovative technologies, products, or service capabilities in the eight contest fields. Applications can be submitted through the pop-up banners on the Special Zone Foundation and SK Ecoplant websites until the 25th of this month.
The Special Zone Foundation and SK Ecoplant will announce the final winners in early November after document review and first and second round presentation evaluations, and will hold an awards ceremony.
The winning companies will have opportunities to engage in joint technology development with SK Ecoplant and its subsidiaries, and receive funding and investment support from 15 investment institutions including SK Securities, public institutions, and universities.
Since starting cooperation with SK Ecoplant in 2020, the Special Zone Foundation has diversified its collaboration channel network this year to include Lotte Central Research Institute, Nongshim Taekyung, and others.
Additionally, it is exploring ways to link support projects necessary for commercialization by cooperating with commercialization-specialized institutions in the Daejeon area, such as Daejeon Technopark and Daejeon Job Promotion Agency.
As a result of the large and medium-sized enterprise cooperation channel network project, the Special Zone Foundation has discovered a total of 43 excellent research and development (R&D) items over the past five years, achieving results such as technology commercialization (R&BD) and field demonstration support worth 3.65 billion KRW, establishment of planned research institute companies linking large, medium, and small enterprises, and investment linkage worth approximately 40 billion KRW.
Further detailed information regarding contest applications can be found in the notices section on the Special Zone Foundation’s website.
Jung Hee-kwon, Chairman of the Special Zone Foundation, said, “We will continue to create opportunities for deep-tech companies with excellent technologies in the special zones to grow alongside large corporations and scale up,” adding, “The Special Zone Foundation will continue to take the lead in creating an innovative ecosystem for technology commercialization based on win-win cooperation.”
