On December 14th at the Seoul Arts Center Concert Hall
Schumann Cello Concerto and Brahms Violin Concerto
Violinist Lee Ji-yoon and cellist Shim Jun-ho will take the stage in Mast Media's 'Concerto Marathon Project.'
The Concerto Marathon Project is a performance that deeply explores composers' concerto works. It began last year with piano concertos by Prokofiev, Brahms, and Beethoven, and in the first half of this year, pianist Sunwoo Yekwon presented Rachmaninoff's piano concerto. Lee Ji-yoon and Shim Jun-ho will conclude this year with a concerto stage for violin and cello on December 14 at the Seoul Arts Center Concert Hall.
The performance will begin with Schumann's Cello Concerto. David Lee, associate conductor of the Seoul Philharmonic Orchestra, will conduct, with Shim Jun-ho and the Gangnam Symphony Orchestra performing as soloists.
Shim Jun-ho has a deep affection for Schumann, having programmed an entire recital of Schumann's works last September, and is known as a performer who expresses Schumann's unique musical colors well. He formerly served as principal cellist of the Seoul Philharmonic Orchestra and currently teaches at Seoul National University, dedicating himself to training the next generation.
Following this, Lee Ji-yoon will perform Brahms' Violin Concerto. In April this year, he performed Brahms' Violin Concerto with the KBS Symphony Orchestra at the opening concert of the Seoul Arts Center Symphony Festival. Lee Ji-yoon is active as the youngest concertmaster of the prestigious German orchestra Berlin Staatskapelle.
In the second half of the concert, Brahms' Double Concerto will be performed. The Double Concerto is a concerto for violin, cello, and orchestra, and is regarded as a work that encapsulates Brahms' compositional experience.
Tickets for the Concerto Marathon Project can be purchased at the Seoul Arts Center and Interpark Ticket. Ticket prices range from 30,000 to 90,000 KRW.
