To prevent malicious deepfake (Deepfake·fake videos) damage involving the synthesis of others' faces, the military authorities have made the photos of personnel on the internal network private.

According to the military authorities on the 9th, since the 5th, the military has disabled the photos of soldiers that were visible on the computerized work processing system 'Onnara System' and the intranet unit homepage. The same applies to photos of officials and civilian employees. As a result, ordinary soldiers cannot see other people's photos on the internal network, and only authorized personnel such as HR managers can view the photos.

A Ministry of National Defense official explained, "Although it has not yet been confirmed whether photos on the internal network were used for deepfakes, the photos were made private as a preventive measure against such incidents."

Amid the recent increase in damage caused by deepfake sexual exploitation materials, it has been reported that some female soldiers are also among the victims. The Ministry of National Defense identified 22 victims of deepfake sexual exploitation materials as of the 6th of this month and stated that necessary measures are currently being implemented to protect the victims.
