Promotion of Safety Culture Spread and Establishment
On-site Inspection of Award Candidate Companies Also Conducted
The Korea Employers Federation selects and awards companies that prioritize safety as the top value in corporate management and enhance competitiveness and productivity. The aim is to further establish a safety culture throughout the industrial sector.
On the 9th, the Federation announced the establishment of the Safety Culture Innovation Award. The Federation explained, "Safety culture is a core element of safety management, encouraging executives' safety leadership and workers' compliance with safety rules," and added, "To discover and encourage companies that autonomously spread and establish safety culture, we have created the first privately-led 'Safety Culture Innovation Award.'"
The evaluation for the Safety Culture Innovation Award is conducted in five areas: ▲ status of safety culture dissemination activities ▲ executives' safety and health leadership and practical efforts ▲ establishment and operation status of safety and health management systems ▲ labor-management cooperation and worker participation level ▲ mutual cooperation level in safety and health between primary and subcontractors.
Companies that pass the Korea Employers Federation’s document screening will be reviewed by a judging panel composed of representatives from management, labor, and academia, who will select the final award candidates. On-site inspections and in-depth interviews with the candidate companies will also be conducted before selecting the final awardees.
The application submission deadline is the 18th of next month. Required documents, including the commendation report, must be submitted by the 25th of the same month. The award ceremony is scheduled to be held at the end of November.
Lee Dong-geun, Vice Chairman of the Korea Employers Federation, stated, "With the emphasis on ESG (Environment, Social, Governance) management and the enforcement of the Serious Accident Punishment Act, safety has become an indispensable element of corporate management," and added, "Through the Safety Culture Innovation Award, we will take the lead in enhancing the global competitiveness of Korean companies fulfilling their social responsibilities."
