Samsung Biologics Holds 'Family Day' Event with Employees' Families

Samsung Biologics announced on the 9th that it held a two-day employee family invitation event, '2024 Semba Family Day,' on the 7th and 8th. Held at Samsung Biologics' headquarters in Songdo, Incheon, the event was designed to allow employees' families to visit the company, tour the workplaces where their children and parents work, experience various activities, and create lasting memories.

About 3,200 people, including employees' parents, siblings, and children, participated in this event. Samsung Biologics plans to hold an additional event on the 21st to allow more families to join. As a result, the total number of attendees for this year's family invitation events is expected to reach 5,000. Last year, around 2,000 people attended the event.

The event began with a welcome video from John Rim, CEO of Samsung Biologics, and the management team, followed by surprise video letters prepared in advance by employees for their visiting families, various recreational activities, tours of the promotional center, and hands-on experiences set up at the business site. The visit to the promotional center, where visitors could see the actual biopharmaceutical production site, provided an opportunity for employees' families to deepen their understanding of the biopharmaceutical business. Programs using bioindustry-related items, such as making keychains from vials (medicine storage containers) and trying on lab coats, helped children develop interest and curiosity about their parents' work. Additionally, various experience zones, including photo zones and game zones, were set up throughout the bio campus to give families time to create memories together.

As part of its ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) management practice, Samsung Biologics provided attendees with zero-waste kits made from eco-friendly materials, including toothbrushes and soap, as well as reusable bags made from recycled plastic waste as souvenirs. Banners, life-size cutouts, photo walls, and other items installed during the event were also made from 'honeycomb board,' a reusable wood pulp and paper material.

John Rim, CEO of Samsung Biologics, said, "I hope this event serves as an opportunity for both employees and their families to better understand the company and feel pride as we strive to become a global bio company. We believe that the happiness of our members leads to a positive corporate culture, and we will continue to work hard to create a happy organizational culture for our employees."
