Ulleung County, Finale of the 55th Ulleung County Residents Sports Festival

The 55th Ulleung County Residents Sports Festival was held at the Ulleung Public Stadium on the 5th.

On the 8th, Ulleung County announced that the county residents' sports festival, organized by the Ulleung County Sports Association and sponsored by various organizations and groups, was successfully held.

On the 5th, the 55th Ulleung County Sports Festival is being held at Ulleung Public Stadium.

The opening ceremony began with a Gilnori performance by the Jangheung Nongak Troupe, followed by the entrance of the athletes and a welcoming speech by Gong Hosik, president of the Ulleung County Sports Association. The torch was lit by Heo Bongjo and his spouse, a multicultural family with two children and ten years of residency, receiving applause from the residents.

Afterwards, students from Ulleung Middle School performed a cheerleading routine, followed by an Aranggo-go Janggu performance, and a Taekwondo demonstration by the Arirang Taemu demonstration team from the Gyeongbuk Sports Association, offering a variety of attractions for participants and spectators.

In the general division, Seomyeon won the overall championship, Buk-myeon took second place, and Bongrae came in third. In the high school division, Sadong and Seomyeon/Buk-myeon shared first place, Dodong took second, and Jeodong/Bongrae finished third. In the workplace division, Ulleung Police Station took first place, Ulleung High School came second, and Ulleung Office of Education finished third.

This year, in particular, five regional hometown associations from outside Ulleung (Pohang, Gyeonggi, Daegu, Ulsan, and Gumi) formed a united team to participate. They mingled and engaged in friendly competition with local residents, received the entrance award, and donated their prize money to the Ulleung County Sports Association to support the development of sports in Ulleung County.

Gong Hosik, president of the Ulleung County Sports Association, said, "I ask for your continued interest and support so that the Ulleung County Residents Sports Festival can become a venue for strengthening friendship among local residents and a meaningful gathering for those who have left the island," adding, "We will continue to do our best for the development of the region and the unity of our residents."

Nam Hankwon, governor of Ulleung County, said, "I hope the Ulleung County Residents Sports Festival will become a grand event that unites and harmonizes all Ulleung residents."
