Nowon District Mayor Oh Seung-rok Attends Sanggye 8-dong Dongmaeul Festival 'Exciting Happiness Madri Festival'

On the 7th at noon, Oh Seung-rok, Mayor of Nowon-gu, attended the 8th Happy Madri Festival held at Galmal Park in Sanggye 8-dong.

The 'Dong Village Festival,' celebrating its 10th anniversary this year, is a resident-led festival where residents autonomously plan and promote the entire festival preparation process, including the selection of venues and programs.

At the Sanggye 8-dong festival, performances by Mr. Trot singer Choi Jeong-hoon and popera singer Arihyeon provided a rich visual experience. Various cultural performances such as ▲ dance competitions ▲ Taekwondo and Hapkido demonstrations ▲ Nowon High School orchestra performances were held.

In addition, there were experiential programs for all ages, including bubble shows, Hangung (Korean archery) experiences, visiting health booths, and traffic safety experience booths, along with a beer drinking contest and prize events, adding to the enjoyment of many attendees.

The Dong festivals are held by each neighborhood, highlighting their unique characteristics, starting with the Sanggye 8-dong and Sanggye 5-dong festivals on September 7 and continuing until November 2. These are special times for residents to gather, enjoy, and communicate together, featuring diverse programs full of sights, activities, and food.

Oh Seung-rok, Mayor of Nowon-gu, said, “Although it is the 10th anniversary this year, the festival created together by neighbors gathering in one place is new and special every year. Since the Dong festivals showcase the unique charm and characteristics of each neighborhood well, I ask for much interest in the upcoming Dong festivals.”
