Recruitment of female vocalist Emily Armstrong and drummer Colin Britten
Linkin Park, the band that led the hybrid rock craze in the early 2000s with their hit "One Step Closer," has returned after seven years with new members. The new members are female vocalist Emily Armstrong and drummer Colin Britten.
On the 6th, record label Warner Music Korea and concert planning company Live Nation Korea announced the release of their new song "The Emptiness Machine." New vocalist Emily Armstrong previously performed as co-vocalist of the band Dera Sara. Drummer Colin Britten has experience working as a producer for American singer Illenium and Japanese band One Ok Rock.
Additionally, Linkin Park will hold a solo concert on the 28th at Inspire Arena in Incheon. This concert is part of the first world tour under the name Linkin Park since 2017, titled the "From Zero World Tour," and it will be the only stop in Asia. Linkin Park has previously performed in Korea three times in 2003, 2007, and 2011.
Tickets for Linkin Park's concert will be exclusively sold through Interpark Ticket starting at 10 a.m. on the 13th. Prior to this, fan club pre-sale will take place from 10 a.m. on the 11th until 9:59 a.m. on the 12th.
Formed in 1996, Linkin Park gained attention with their official debut album "Hybrid Theory" released in 2000. They achieved widespread popularity with their hybrid rock style that mixes funk, rock, and hip-hop, selling over 100 million albums worldwide.
They have sold over 100 million albums worldwide and won numerous awards including 2 Grammy Awards, 6 American Music Awards, 2 Billboard Music Awards, 4 MTV Video Music Awards, and 10 MTV Europe Music Awards. Among the members, Joe Hahn, who handled turntablism and production, is a second-generation Korean-American, which contributed to their popularity in Korea.
However, two months after releasing their seventh album, in July 2017, vocalist Chester Bennington passed away, leading the band to halt activities. Since then, Linkin Park members have pursued individual projects and released a best-of album, while rumors about recruiting a new vocalist have sparked speculation about a possible comeback.
Meanwhile, ticket reservations will be available from 10 a.m. on the 13th through Interpark Ticket.
