Identifying Demand, Usage Patterns, and Satisfaction with Korean Medicine Services

What Is the Current State of Korean Medicine? National Institute for Korean Medicine Development Launches Survey on Korean Medicine Service Usage

This survey aims to build national statistical data by identifying the demand for and usage patterns of Korean medicine services, as well as satisfaction levels.

The survey targets a total of 7,000 people, including 5,000 citizens aged 19 or older and 2,000 users of Korean medicine outpatient and inpatient services.

The survey for the general public will cover areas such as experiences and perceptions of using Korean medicine services, the actual use of Korean medicine services by children, and intentions to use public health services related to Korean medicine. For users of Korean medicine institutions, the survey will also include questions related to medical services.

While face-to-face interviews are the primary method, non-face-to-face methods such as drop-off surveys (leaving questionnaires and collecting them during a follow-up visit) will also be used as needed.

The National Institute for Korean Medicine Development has established a thorough management system, including the operation of a professional advisory committee, interviewer training, and monitoring, to ensure reliable results.

Shin Jesu, Acting President of the National Institute for Korean Medicine Development, said, “The results of this survey will serve as important foundational data for developing policies that reflect the needs of the public. We ask for active participation from everyone.”

The results of the survey are scheduled to be released early next year through the website for the Korean Medicine Usage and Herbal Medicine Consumption Survey.
