"What to Do When Your Child Is Sick?"... The Curious 'Seulgiroun Parenting Prescription' Published

Compilation of Common Questions from Parents Visiting Pediatrics
Organized into Three Parts: Physical Growth, Brain Development, and Emotional Strengthening

Parents cannot help but worry when raising children. In various concerning situations that arise during childcare, parents have typically resolved their questions through the internet or parenting communities. To alleviate these worries, 'Woori Children’s Hospital,' a pediatric and adolescent specialty hospital, has published a guidebook addressing various diseases that may occur during the childcare process.

According to the Woori Children’s Medical Foundation on the 7th, Chairman Jeong Seong-gwan and Director Baek Jeong-hyun of Woori Children’s Hospital have released a comprehensive childcare guidebook titled Wise Childcare Prescription. This book compiles common questions from parents based on their experience of seeing 5 million children over 10 years in the clinic and the latest medical information.

The book is broadly divided into three parts: physical growth, brain development, and strong mental health. It selects only the information parents need to know and remember, and includes video QR codes to enhance understanding. Additionally, special supplements contain questionnaires to identify children’s brain and eating habit types, as well as parenting styles.

Chairman Jeong Seong-gwan explained, "The book is organized into parts such as 'To Keep Our Children from Getting Sick,' which answers questions like ‘Is it okay to give cold medicine all year round when my child has a fever?’, ‘What if the cough won’t go away?’, ‘My child has hives’, ‘My child urinates frequently’, and 'To Help Our Children Eat Well and Grow Well,' which addresses concerns like allergy-free baby food, whether a child who speaks slowly is okay, and worries about precocious puberty."

He added, "Along with these two parts, there is a section titled 'To Strengthen Our Children’s Minds,' which covers topics such as children who get frustrated and angry when things don’t go their way, children who throw tantrums by lying down on the street, the saying ‘habits formed at three last until eighty,’ and how to wisely use smart devices."

Director Baek Jeong-hyun also said, "During consultations, parents often ask many questions with worried eyes about seemingly minor issues. As a pediatric and adolescent specialist and a parent myself, I empathize with them. This book carefully selects these questions and presents them in an easy-to-understand way. I hope that the knowledge about childhood diseases and childcare information will ease even one worry of our parents."

Meanwhile, Chairman Jeong Seong-gwan and Director Baek Jeong-hyun will share stories they could not discuss during regular consultations and address questions through a commemorative lecture event for the book’s release. The lecture will be held on the 10th at 2 p.m. at Songhae Art Hall in Guro-gu, Seoul.
