Kim Dong-yeon, Governor of Gyeonggi Province, urged people to show great interest in the ‘2024 Gyeonggi Ceramic Biennale,’ held for the first time in seven years.
On the 6th, Governor Kim posted on his social media, stating, "Ceramic culture and art from over 70 countries around the world have gathered in Gyeonggi Province," and introduced it as "thanks to the ‘power of ceramics’ that connects the world as one."
He continued, "At the opening ceremony, water from Yeoju, soil from Icheon, and fire from Gwangju came together to create a magnificent performance where a single ceramic piece, embodying the spirit of the potter, was completed," and promised, "Like ceramics that unite as one, Gyeonggi Province will take the lead in creating a world where we live together."
In particular, he asked for "much interest in the Gyeonggi Ceramic Biennale, where you can experience ceramic culture from around the world for 45 days."
Earlier, on the evening of the 5th at 7 p.m., Gyeonggi Province held the opening ceremony of the international ceramic art event ‘2024 Gyeonggi Ceramic Biennale (GCB)’ at Yeoju Ceramic World, marking a splendid start.
Now in its 12th edition, the ‘Gyeonggi Ceramic Biennale’ is the only domestic biennale (biennial international art event) in the ceramic art category held in Gyeonggi Province.
Each edition has been recognized for its prestige, with over 1,000 artists from more than 70 countries participating, establishing it as a representative international ceramic art event.
This biennale is held for 45 days from the 6th of this month to the 20th of next month across Icheon, Yeoju, Gwangju, and other areas in Gyeonggi Province under the theme ‘TOGETHER_Montaigne’s Cat’.
