Open Call Until the 25th of This Month, Final Winners Announced in November
SK ecoplant announced on the 6th that it will host the ‘2024 ConTech Meet-Up Day,’ a contest for semiconductor and environmental innovation technologies and solutions.
ConTech Meet-Up Day is an innovation technology contest organized by SK ecoplant for startups, small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), and mid-sized companies. The goal is to discover companies with innovative technologies in the semiconductor and environmental fields and achieve commercialization through joint research and development and funding support. SK ecoplant’s environmental and energy subsidiaries, such as RENEUS and SK Ocean Plant, along with numerous public, investment, and academic institutions, also participate to support funding and joint R&D. Since its inception in 2020, this year marks the 5th edition. Starting from this year’s contest, the scope has been expanded to include technologies related to semiconductors, artificial intelligence (AI), and digital transformation (DT) businesses, which SK ecoplant has been actively developing recently, expecting synergistic effects.
The contest’s target technology areas include a total of eight fields: semiconductor recycling, semiconductor infrastructure, air pollution reduction, environmental facilities, offshore wind power, AI·DT, smart construction, and others (carbon reduction-related technologies). Any startup or SME with relevant innovative technologies can freely apply.
The final selected awardees will conduct joint research and development for technology advancement and commercialization with SK ecoplant and its subsidiaries RENEUS and SK Ocean Plant. A total of 15 public institutions, universities, and investment organizations?including the Research & Development Special Zone Promotion Foundation, Chungnam Regional Small and Medium Venture Business Administration, Seoul National University, Ulsan National Institute of Science and Technology, Korea International Trade Association, Seoul and Chungnam Creative Economy Innovation Centers, Hoseo University, and SK Securities?will support funding connections and investment attraction.
The application period is until the 25th of this month. Afterward, document reviews and first and second presentation evaluations will be conducted, with the final winners announced and an awards ceremony held in early November. The evaluation will comprehensively consider technological innovation, suitability, and commercialization potential.
In addition, SK ecoplant is leading joint technology development and collaboration with startups and SMEs possessing innovative technologies through various open innovation programs such as ‘Tech Open Collaboration’ and ‘Eco Open Platform.’
