It has been confirmed that six candidates, including President Kang Shin-sook, have thrown their hats in the ring for the next Sh Suhyup Bank president.

According to Suhyup Bank on the 5th, along with President Kang, Shin Hak-gi, Senior Vice President of Suhyup Bank, Park Yang-su, Vice President of Suhyup Bank, Kim Cheol-hwan, former Vice President of Suhyup Bank, Yang Je-shin, former Vice President of Hana Bank, and Kang Cheol-seung, former professor at Chung-Ang University, have submitted their applications.

Kang, the first female president in Suhyup Bank's history, is seeking reappointment. Kang joined the National Federation of Fisheries Cooperatives in 1979 and has been with Suhyup for over 40 years. However, since Suhyup Bank was spun off from the National Federation of Fisheries Cooperatives in 2016, no president has been reappointed.

Suhyup Bank received applications through an open recruitment process, after which the President Candidate Recommendation Committee (PCRC) conducts interviews to select the final candidates.

The final interview candidates will be decided on the 12th, and the interviews are scheduled for the 23rd. The term for the next president is two years.

The PCRC consists of five members: three from the Ministry of Strategy and Finance, the Financial Services Commission, and the Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries, and two cooperative heads from the National Federation of Fisheries Cooperatives.

To be selected as the final presidential candidate, a candidate must receive approval from at least four of the five PCRC members. Since government members outside the federation often support different candidates, the financial sector anticipates fierce behind-the-scenes competition until the last moment.
