The 'Gyeonggimi Dessert Festa,' where you can experience rice baking and rice cake desserts made with Gyeonggi rice all in one place, will be held in Suwon, Gyeonggi Province this October.
Gyeonggi Province announced on the 6th that it will expand the 'National Rice Baking Contest,' which has been held since 2021, into the 'Gyeonggimi Dessert Festa' at Suwon Messe Exhibition Hall 1 over two days from October 19 to 20.
This event will feature two competitions: the '4th National Rice Baking Contest' and the '1st National Rice Cake Dessert Contest,' along with various side events including experiences, exhibitions, and sales.
The National Rice Baking Contest is divided into two categories: confectionery and bakery, while the National Rice Cake Dessert Contest is divided into rice cake cakes and rice cake desserts.
Gyeonggi Province is recruiting participants for the competitions until September 16, and on October 1, preliminary rounds will select 30 teams for rice baking and 30 teams for rice cake desserts. The Gyeonggimi Dessert Festa will be held on the 19th and 20th, where outstanding teams will be awarded prizes and certificates from the Governor of Gyeonggi Province.
Side events organized by Gyeonggi Province include ▲exhibitions (art cake exhibition, birthday party photo zone, Gyeonggimi exhibition, etc.) ▲rice dessert sales ▲cooking classes (rice character cookies, rice cake macarons, etc.).
So-young Bae, Director of the Agricultural Food Distribution Division of Gyeonggi Province, stated, "Through this event, we aim to encourage the development and entrepreneurship of various rice desserts loved worldwide, and to introduce diverse dessert products made with Gyeonggimi to help expand the consumption of Gyeonggimi."
