North Korea has once again sent flying objects presumed to be trash balloons toward the South.
The Joint Chiefs of Staff stated on the 5th, "North Korea is once again launching trash balloons toward the South," adding, "Currently, the wind direction is northwest, making it possible for the balloons to move toward Seoul and the Gyeonggi region." They also urged caution regarding falling payloads and requested that if any fallen balloons are found, people should not touch them and report to the nearest military unit or police station.
North Korea sent about 420 trash balloons from the night of the previous day until early morning of the day. From 9 a.m. that day, about 60 balloons were launched over approximately three hours. This means trash balloons were sent southward three times in two days.
According to the Joint Chiefs of Staff, over the two days, about 30 fallen objects were confirmed in Seoul and about 70 in northern Gyeonggi.
