On the afternoon of the 5th, President Yoon Suk-yeol visited the Asia Pavilion of the 15th Gwangju Biennale held at the National Asia Culture Center in Dong-gu, Gwangju, and promised to actively support efforts to further enhance the cultural brand value of the Gwangju Biennale.

The Presidential Office explained, "Today’s on-site visit by President Yoon was arranged to encourage those involved in the Gwangju Biennale, which is celebrating its 30th anniversary, and to express interest in strengthening Gwangju’s international cultural and artistic status as well as its sustained growth as a global cultural hub."

The Gwangju Biennale has grown into one of the world’s top five biennales since its first event in 1995.

This year’s Gwangju Biennale features a main exhibition with 72 artists from 30 countries and a pavilion exhibition where overseas countries and cultural arts institutions create national pavilions. For the pavilion exhibition, a record scale is set this year with participation from 22 countries and 9 cities/institutions, presenting a total of 31 pavilions.

President Yoon visited the exhibition halls of Asian countries on this day and expressed interest in Asian cultural arts and exchanges.

He received explanations about the Philippine Pavilion themed on 'Freedom,' the Singapore Pavilion focusing on the environment and interactions among components, and the Korea-ASEAN Center Pavilion featuring the nature of the 10 ASEAN countries.
