A story about a man who committed adultery with his son’s friend’s mother has sparked public outrage. The man’s wife found decisive evidence of the affair through the car’s black box.

On the 5th episode of JTBC’s ‘Case Manager,’ a woman in her 50s, Ms. A, revealed that her husband, Mr. B, had filed a defamation lawsuit against her for allegedly spreading false rumors. The reason was that she had been spreading baseless rumors about Ms. C, the mother of their middle school son’s friend.

The incident dates back to when Mr. B opened a restaurant. He took out a loan under Ms. A’s name to start the business. As the restaurant prospered, he expanded the store and hired new staff. One of the employees he hired was Ms. C. Mr. B and Ms. C then began an extramarital affair.

Ms. A discovered the affair when she visited the restaurant to talk to Mr. B after he had left home. Finding Mr. B absent, she searched nearby and found his car at a motel near the restaurant. After waiting for a long time, she witnessed Mr. B and Ms. C coming out together affectionately.

Despite being caught at the motel, Mr. B and Ms. C denied the affair. Ms. C claimed, “I just briefly brought him a hangover cure. Don’t misunderstand.” Meanwhile, Mr. B pushed Ms. A away with his hand, saying, “What are you doing, embarrassing yourself?” before getting Ms. C into the car and leaving.

Afterward, Mr. B continued to threaten and insult Ms. A, saying things like, “We’re just boss and employee. Do you want to be sued?” and “Aren’t you ashamed to see your son’s face? You’re delusional.” He also spread false rumors that Ms. A was the one having an affair, which even reached their son’s middle school.

Ms. A explained the situation to her son, and together they searched for evidence. They checked the black box and were able to obtain audio of Mr. B and Ms. C engaging in sexual activity. Ms. A transcribed the black box recording and submitted it to the police.

Despite this, Mr. B maintained a shameless attitude. While admitting to the relationship, he argued, “We started dating after I ran away from home. Our family was already broken,” trying to absolve Ms. C of responsibility.

Mr. B also threatened Ms. A regarding the loan taken out in her name, saying, “If you agree to divorce, I will give you the repayment money.” Furthermore, he appeared to be trying to avoid property division by filing for personal rehabilitation. Ms. A suspects he is hiding assets ahead of the divorce.

Attorney Park Ji-hoon commented on the case, saying, “An illegal personal rehabilitation application could constitute fraud. Since the couple lived together for a long time, property division is likely possible. If there is joint property, it is advisable to seek expert help.”

Attorney Yang Ji-yeol also said, “It is suspected that assets are being hidden in preparation for divorce. There are lawsuits to recover such assets, so please keep that in mind. The husband’s claim that he dated the son’s friend’s mother after the marriage broke down is unlikely to be accepted in an alienation of affection lawsuit.”
