1.64 Billion KRW Invested to Complete Within the Year
Gyeonggi-do Icheon City announced on the 5th that it will start a barrier-free sharing path construction project for the mobility-impaired at Oncheon Park in Changjeon-dong from the 11th.
The barrier-free sharing path project is led by the Korea Forest Welfare Institute under the Korea Forest Service and is funded by lottery proceeds. Icheon City was selected as the target site for the '2024 Green Fund Barrier-Free Sharing Path Construction Project' led by the institute last year.

The city plans to invest a total of 1.634 billion KRW in Oncheon Park for the barrier-free sharing path construction project, including 980 million KRW received from the project selection and 654 million KRW from the city budget, aiming to complete the project within the year.
The city will newly construct a 629-meter natural wood walking path in steep areas within Oncheon Park and repave 547 meters of damaged walking paths. These will be connected to the existing 455 meters of sidewalks to create a total of 1,631 meters of barrier-free sharing paths. Additionally, small-scale maintenance such as replacing and repairing old walking paths and stages will also be carried out.
Hwang Byeong-gu, head of the Parks and Greenery Division of Icheon City, said, "We will do our best to ensure that the newly renovated Oncheon Park becomes not only a healing space for the mobility-impaired but also a tourist attraction."
