Non-Emergency Mild Patients Urged to Visit Local Clinics and Hospitals
Yangsan City in Gyeongnam Province has launched an all-out response to ensure the normal operation of the emergency medical system and to alleviate citizens' anxiety about emergency medical care, which has been spreading ahead of the Chuseok holiday.
Contrary to recent concerns among citizens, the emergency rooms at Yangsan Pusan National University Hospital Regional Emergency Medical Center (including the Pediatric Emergency Medical Center), Bethesda Gospel Hospital, and Bonbareun Hospital are scheduled to operate as usual without interruption during the holiday. In addition, 236 public health centers, on-call hospitals, clinics, and pharmacies will voluntarily provide emergency medical services during the holiday to minimize inconvenience for citizens.
Furthermore, the pediatric emergency room at Yangsan Pusan National University Hospital announced that, in order to prevent indiscriminate transfers of pediatric respiratory patients due to overcrowding, they will respond to emergency situations according to the severity classification criteria for emergency room patients.
The city also recommends that citizens with mild symptoms use nearby hospitals, clinics, or pharmacies to prevent overcrowding in emergency rooms. It is actively promoting that citizens can check, in real time, which hospitals, clinics, and pharmacies are open through the emergency medical portal 'E-Gen'.
For citizens who have difficulty using the internet, information is also available by phone through the 129 Health and Welfare Call Center or the 119 Emergency Situation Management Center.
An official from the public health center stated, "Just because emergency rooms are operating normally does not mean that the supply of medical personnel is stable," and added, "Especially in difficult times like these, it is essential for citizens to show mature awareness by allowing emergency rooms at higher-level hospitals to be used by severe patients."
