For benchmarking and field visits
The residents' autonomy councils from five towns and townships, including Okcheon-eup in Okcheon-gun, North Chungcheong Province, conducted a joint field trip to Uiryeong-gun, South Gyeongsang Province, for benchmarking outstanding cases of residents' autonomy and on-site exploration.
The field trip, which took place on the 3rd, aimed to benchmark the exemplary cases of Uiryeong-gun, which received the Grand Prize in the Residents' Autonomy category at the Korea Local Autonomy Management Awards in July this year. About 100 members of the residents' autonomy councils from Okcheon-eup, Annam-myeon, Annae-myeon, Cheongseong-myeon, and Gunseo-myeon participated in the trip.

The group visited the birthplace of Samsung Group founder Lee Byungchul, Ilbungsa Temple, and the birthplace of Lee Jonghwan, honorary chairman of Samyoung Chemical Group known as the "King of Donations in Asia." They then moved to the Uiryeong-eup Administrative Welfare Center, where they received an explanation of Uiryeong-gun's residents' autonomy projects and had time to observe the "Mobile Laundry Service," "Sharing Refrigerator," and "Book Cafe."
Kim Daehoon, chairman of the Okcheon-eup Residents' Autonomy Council, said, "Through this advanced field trip, I was deeply impressed to learn about Uiryeong-gun's historic heritage, and I was able to learn a lot by observing their innovative and advanced residents' autonomy projects."
Meanwhile, the Uiryeong-gun Residents' Autonomy Council was converted to a council for all towns and townships in July 2023 and has been actively carrying out various projects, including the mobile laundry service and the supply of national flags to residential areas.
