The Presidential Office is planning to assign first-grade secretaries to emergency medical sites in 17 metropolitan cities and provinces nationwide to directly monitor emergency medical situations before the Chuseok holiday.

A Presidential Office official explained, "We are considering a plan to assign one secretary and one administrative officer each to a large hospital and a small hospital, respectively, to report objective situations from the field before Chuseok."

This is interpreted as the Presidential Office's determination to directly oversee medical sites amid growing concerns about emergency medical service gaps during the Chuseok holiday due to the departure of residents following the government's medical reform push and the accumulated fatigue of some emergency medical staff.

Regarding this, a Presidential Office official emphasized, "The government has established a special emergency medical response plan for Chuseok and is instructing local governments to set up emergency medical management task forces to prepare."

He added, "The Presidential Office is visiting emergency medical sites to encourage dedicated medical staff and is reviewing ways to listen to difficulties and suggestions to reflect them in policies."

Earlier, President Yoon Suk-yeol visited the Regional Emergency Medical Center at Uijeongbu St. Mary's Hospital the previous night to encourage medical staff and hear their on-site opinions.

At a meeting with hospital officials and medical staff, President Yoon said, "The holiday season, when emergency room demand increases, is approaching, and we will do our best to prioritize available resources to support doctors so they do not experience burnout." He added, "If necessary, we will allocate contingency funds to provide support."
