Seeking Various Measures to Ensure Citizen Safety and Alleviate Anxiety
Yangsan City in Gyeongnam Province is strengthening inspections of charging facilities in apartment complexes as a preemptive measure to quickly respond to growing public anxiety and concerns about electric vehicle safety and fires following recent electric vehicle fire incidents.
At the end of August, the city visited the Yangsan Fire Station to discuss effective measures and support plans for preventing electric vehicle fires, including an explanation of firefighting strategies in response to electric vehicle fires and a demonstration of fire suppression equipment.
On the 4th, Gyeongnam Province, Yangsan City, and Yangsan Fire Station conducted a joint inspection of two apartment complexes in Dong-myeon, focusing on the management of electric vehicle charging and fire facilities, fire safety equipment, and emergency response systems. The city plans to continue regular inspections of 146 apartment complexes within its jurisdiction and to alleviate public concerns through local government-level responses and countermeasures.
A city official stated, "Through this comprehensive inspection, we will assess the safety of electric vehicle charging facilities and thoroughly prepare to take prompt follow-up actions once the central government announces comprehensive measures," adding, "We will continue to seek various ways to ensure the safety of our citizens."
