"Own a House and Receive a Pension"
A public matchmaking flyer stating 'Seeking a female spouse' has been posted on the exterior wall of an apartment, drawing attention.
On the 4th, JTBC's 'Case Manager' reported on a spouse-seeking flyer posted on the exterior wall of an apartment in Nam-gu, Busan, on the 3rd. The notice read, "Seeking a spouse. Female, aged 45 to 58. I have a house and receive a pension. I currently have a job." At the bottom, a phone number presumed to belong to the person who posted the flyer was listed along with the message, "Please call."
Attorney Park Ji-hoon, who saw this, said, "The effort is lacking. Looking at the writing, I don't want to call. It attracted negative attention," and added, "No one will contact." He continued, "Since it was posted without permission, it can be punished under the Minor Offenses Act," and added, "Even if the management office might allow it, permission must be obtained before posting."
Netizens responded with various comments such as, "They seek a spouse without revealing their own age," "There is no mention of appearance, personality, or age," "What is the reason for trying so hard to get married like that?" "Just live alone," and "Since they say they receive a pension, doesn't that mean they are over 60?"
A similar incident occurred in March last year. At that time, a man in his 60s, Mr. B, hung a banner on his cargo truck near an all-girls high school and middle school in Dalseo-gu, Daegu, stating, "Seeking a female aged 13 to 20 to bear children and manage the household for a rough 60s grandfather living alone," causing controversy.
The banner also included messages such as, "Students who dislike studying because their views differ from the world, come to this truck," and a phone number presumed to be Mr. B's contact was listed. In the appeal trial, Mr. B was sentenced to 10 months in prison with a 2-year probation.
Meanwhile, attaching or inserting advertisements or promotional materials on other people's or organizations' houses (residences), artificial structures (utility poles, cars, etc.), engraving pictures, or posting and distributing advertisements in public places are all punishable acts. Such distribution activities can be penalized with a fine of up to 100,000 won, detention, or a fine under Article 3, Paragraph 1, Item 9 of the Minor Offenses Act.
