On the 5th, the Seoul Metropolitan Government announced that it held the 13th Urban Planning Committee meeting and approved the revised maintenance plan for the Susong Urban Maintenance-type Redevelopment District 1-2.

The Daerim Building, located at 146-12 Susong-dong, Jongno-gu, is an office facility with three basement floors and 12 above-ground floors. It received building use approval in 1976, and after 47 years, issues regarding building safety have been raised. Although it is the Daerim headquarters, DL E&C (formerly Daelim Industrial) relocated to D-Tower Donuimun, and the building is currently used as a temporary Jongno-gu Office.

The Susong District 1-2 proposed a maintenance plan that includes the introduction of open green spaces, restoration of roads and the Jungakcheon stream waterway, and provision of public facilities. During the city planning committee review, the maintenance plan was finalized to allow construction with a floor area ratio of up to 985% and a height limit of 90 meters for the district.

The Daerim Building will be constructed as an office facility with eight basement floors and 20 above-ground floors, including cultural and assembly facilities and neighborhood living facilities. The Jungakcheon stream waterway will be restored over a 220-meter section within the Susong District and developed into a waterside space for relaxation and various activities.

An underground public pedestrian passageway connecting Gwanghwamun Station to the Susong District 1-7 (Korean Re Building) near Jongno-gu Office will also be installed. A cultural facility (exhibition hall) is planned in the basement. A complex cultural space will be created in connection with the adjacent districts within Susong District, including the relic exhibition hall (site of the Joseon Dynasty Saboksi office) in 1-3 district (Jongno-gu Office) and the classical music-only performance hall in 1-7 district.

A 1,500㎡ open green space will be secured above ground. The open green space will be created on a site adjacent to Jongno-gu Office, establishing a pedestrian system that connects from Gwanghwamun Square to Jogyesa Temple.

The Seoul Metropolitan Government stated, "We expect the Susong District to be reborn as a complex cultural space where history and culture blend, offering citizens a beloved space to enjoy diverse experiences."
