"Only 2000 Won for All-Day Use"... Yongsan-gu Opens 'Wonhyoro Youth Study Room'

'Wonhyoro Youth Study Room' Opens at Yongsan Kkum Namu Complex Town
Third Branch Following Cheongpa-dong and Hangangno-dong

Yongsan-gu, Seoul (District Mayor Park Hee-young) announced on the 5th that the 'Wonhyoro Youth Study Room' was renovated on the 3rd floor of the 1st annex of Yongsan Dream Tree Complex Town in Wonhyoro 1-ga and officially opened on the 3rd.


The Wonhyoro Youth Study Room is equipped with 44 study seats, a lounge, study rooms, a fingerprint recognition access system, and personal lockers. Usage fees are 500 to 2,000 KRW for youth (up to 24 years old) and 1,000 to 5,000 KRW for adults, with options for hourly or daily passes. A monthly pass costs 50,000 KRW for youth and 120,000 KRW for adults. Usage fees are waived for vulnerable youth groups (recipients of national basic livelihood security, children under foster care, etc.).

The youth study room is available from Tuesday to Sunday (closed on legal holidays and Mondays) from 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. The district plans to create a study caf?-style youth study room within the Hannam-dong Youth Complex Cultural Space by the end of this year and convert the Ichon 2-dong Youth Study Room into a study caf? next year.


Architect Shin Myung-sook, who designed the Wonhyoro Youth Study Room, said, “We proceeded with the design after much consideration to encourage youth to voluntarily come to study,” adding, “We incorporated private rooms, warm colors and lighting, and caf?-like rest areas into the design to help them focus on studying.”

District Mayor Park Hee-young said, “The project to convert the youth study room into a study caf? was one of the first initiatives I took after assuming office,” and added, “We will do our best to ensure that the youth of Yongsan-gu grow up in a good learning environment and become outstanding members of society.”


About 50 people, including Park Hee-young, Yongsan District Mayor, city and district council members, residents, and youth, attended the opening ceremony. After the ceremony, Mayor Park created a 'Wish Tree' to share words of hope with students representing Yongsan, such as those from Sookmyung Women’s University and Yongsan International School, and listened to their opinions through a youth meeting.
