Geumcheon Fashion Film Festival linked program 'Fashion Show with Books' held
Geumcheon-gu (Mayor Yu Seong-hoon) and the Geumcheon Cultural Foundation (CEO Seo Young-cheol) announced that the 14th "Geumcheon-gu Library Book Festival," where books and festivals are enjoyed together, will be held in front of Hyundai Outlet Gasan Branch from 10 a.m. on September 8.
This year's Book Festival theme is "Jigeumbukpe" (Now Book Festival). It is an abbreviation of "Save the Earth from the Climate Crisis! Geumcheon, Book Festival," prepared with the purpose of thinking and acting together on the environment and climate change to create a zero-waste Earth.
At this event, visitors can enjoy a variety of attractions such as book exhibitions and cultural events prepared by local libraries, virtual reality (VR) experiences, programs linked to the Geumcheon Fashion Film Festival, and music performances.
Library events will feature exhibitions of environment-related books and programs that encourage thinking about nature. Each library will conduct activities such as ▲making hanging pots with the air-purifying plant "Eonanasa" (Doksan Library), ▲trash bowling to blow away garbage (Gasan Library), ▲making personalized keychains using beach waste glass (Geumnarae Library), and ▲writing letters to penguins and making natural mosquito repellents (Siheung Library).
Additionally, a "Reading Family Awards Ceremony" will be held to honor families with high library usage. Other activities include reading quizzes and book markets.
At the virtual reality (VR) experience center, visitors can experience VR themed on sustainable living and the environment, and books related to virtual reality such as the "Unity 5 Virtual Reality VR Project" will also be exhibited.
In connection with the Geumcheon Fashion Film Festival, the "Fashion Show with Books" will feature "upcycling creations," where fashion items are made using old discarded books. Children who pre-register can create fashion items and pinwheels from old books, wear them, and enjoy a street fashion show.
On the performance stage, there will be performances to enliven the festival, including gayageum byeongchang by Lee Seon, classical music concerts, samulnori, and street performances by indie bands.
This festival is free for everyone to experience, and for the "Fashion Show with Books," participation is possible after pre-registration on the Geumcheon-gu Public Library website (geumcheonlib.seoul.kr).
Yu Seong-hoon, Mayor of Geumcheon-gu, said, "We have prepared abundant practical measures and various experiential events to create a sustainable environmental city Geumcheon under the theme of climate crisis and libraries," and added, "We hope many Geumcheon residents will participate and show interest in this 'Geumcheon-gu Library Book Festival,' which is perfect for reading books in September."
