Kim Junhyung "I said I won't accept... Sorry to the delivery drivers"
Lee Seongyun "Sending unilaterally like a stalker"
Some members of the Party for National Innovation and the Democratic Party of Korea announced on the 4th that they refused the Chuseok gifts sent by President Yoon Suk-yeol.
Kim Jun-hyung, a member of the Party for National Innovation, posted on his social media (SNS) on the same day a message titled "Returning the Unpresident's Chuseok gift." He said, "A not-so-welcome gift just arrived at my office," and criticized the presidential office, saying, "I clearly said 'Do not send gifts' and 'I will not accept them,' but as expected, he acts like a lone wolf."
He added, "He does diplomacy as he pleases, appoints ministers as he pleases, even skips the opening ceremony at will, and yet he insisted on sending a gift that I said I would not accept," and said, "I immediately returned the Unpresident's gift because I did not want to see it."
Kim said, "I apologized to the hardworking delivery person for the inconvenience," and pointed out, "Instead of wasting time sending precious gifts made with blood and sweat in the region without any sincerity, I hope he truly takes care of the people's livelihood first."
Lee Sung-yoon, a member of the Democratic Party of Korea, also posted on his Facebook on the same day that he publicly refused the gift from the presidential office. Along with a photo of the gift from the presidential office, Lee wrote, "A delivery came from Yongsan Presidential Office’s Yoon Suk-yeol and Kim Geon-hee." He added, "I don't want to receive it, so why do they keep sending it unilaterally like a stalker?" and "I won’t go far. I will just leave it at the door." He also added, "Stop the stalker investigation against former President Moon Jae-in."
This is the second time opposition party lawmakers have refused President Yoon’s gifts and posted proof on social media in a relay. Earlier in May, some members of the Party for National Innovation and the Democratic Party also refused the congratulatory orchids sent by President Yoon to the 22nd National Assembly members.
At that time, Cho Guk, leader of the Party for National Innovation, posted a photo of the congratulatory orchids sent by President Yoon on his SNS and stated, "I politely decline the congratulatory orchids from a president who unprecedentedly abuses the veto power for personal gain." Kim Jun-hyung, a member of the Party for National Innovation, also wrote, "I discard the Unpresident’s orchids. The orchids are innocent, but the president’s lack of communication is the fault," and added, "Please send them again when you are ready to take care of the people’s livelihood and cooperate with the opposition. I will gladly accept them."
Additionally, Choi Min-hee, a Democratic Party member, posted a photo of the orchids placed outside her office and said, "I have put them out, so take them." Kim Won-i, also from the same party, said, "I don’t really want to be congratulated. I will politely decline and return them."
