Russia Launches Large-Scale Airstrikes on Ukraine... 7 Dead, 38 Injured in Lviv

Russian forces conducted airstrikes on the western Ukrainian city of Lviv, killing 7 people and injuring at least 38, local daily Kyiv Post and others reported on the 4th (local time). Lviv issued an evacuation order across the city, and some schools canceled classes.

In Kryvyi Rih in southeastern Ukraine, 5 people were injured in a missile attack on the same morning, according to the Dnipropetrovsk regional authorities. Kryvyi Rih, the hometown of President Volodymyr Zelensky, has been regularly bombed since the beginning of the war.


Major foreign media reported that several explosions were heard overnight near the outskirts of the capital Kyiv due to Russian drone and missile airstrikes.


The Kyiv Independent reported that Russian forces launched 13 missiles and flew 29 drones toward Ukraine overnight. The Ukrainian Air Force issued an air raid alert nationwide at 4 a.m. that day and activated air defense systems in various locations including Lviv, Kyiv, Chernihiv, Poltava, and Sumy.


Russia is intensifying its offensive against Ukraine, including airstrikes on military training facilities in eastern Poltava the previous day. Ukrainian authorities confirmed that at least 51 people were killed and 271 injured in Poltava due to the attack.


At the end of last month, energy infrastructure across Ukraine was bombed, cutting off electricity and water supplies. The Ukrainian Ministry of Energy announced that six regional energy facilities were attacked in the past 24 hours.
