Yeosu Island Expo Organizing Committee Promotes Participation in 'National Assembly Forum'

Actively Promoting the Significance of Hosting the Yeosu World Islands Expo

The 2026 Yeosu World Islands Expo Organizing Committee (Chairman Jeong Gi-myeong) actively promoted the 2026 Yeosu World Islands Expo at the National Assembly Forum for Leading the Carbon Neutral Era in the South Coast Region held on the 3rd.


This forum was co-hosted by National Assembly members Seo Young-kyo, Song Ok-joo, Lee Gae-ho, Joo Cheol-hyun, Jo Gye-won, Kim Moon-soo, and Kwon Hyang-yeop, and jointly organized by Jeollanam-do, Yeosu City, the Carbon Neutral Practice Solidarity, Seoul Eco Club, and the ICLE Korea Office. The event provided an opportunity to discuss the carbon neutrality of the southern central South Coast region, the leap toward a climate and environmental advanced country, the significance of COP33, and domestic and international climate change response trends and strategies.

In particular, through performances for attracting COP33 and the successful hosting of the 2026 Yeosu World Islands Expo, the event conveyed messages about island and marine conservation and widely promoted the justification for holding the Islands Expo, adding significance to climate change response efforts.


Chairman Jeong Gi-myeong of the Organizing Committee stated, “COP33 and the 2026 Yeosu World Islands Expo share the common theme of island and marine conservation and climate response efforts.” He added, “We ask for much interest and participation in the 2026 Yeosu World Islands Expo, which will continue to widely raise awareness of the sustainability of islands and the sea and the necessity of climate response.”


Meanwhile, the Yeosu World Islands Expo, held under the theme “Connecting Islands, Sea, and Future” at Jinmo District in Dolsan-eup, Yeosu, will take place for a total of 61 days from September 5 to November 4, 2026. It is expected to attract participation from 30 countries and more than 3 million visitors.
