4il Newsroom Interview
'The Secret to Being No.1 in Timely Delivery'
"Close Communication with Customers"
Park Moon-pil, Vice President of SK Hynix, expressed confidence in the technology, stating that the 5th generation High Bandwidth Memory (HBM) 3E passed customer tests without any issues. He said they will maintain their number one position with next-generation product lines such as 12-layer HBM3E and 6th generation HBM4.
In an interview with the SK Hynix Newsroom on the 4th, Vice President Park said, "(SK Hynix's) HBM PE (Product Engineering) organization possesses the technical know-how to quickly identify product improvements and secure mass production capabilities."
He leads the HBM PE organization, which supports new product development and commercialization by conducting HBM product testing and customer certification. He emphasized that "on-time delivery" is the most critical factor for SK Hynix to maintain its number one position in the HBM market.
Vice President Park explained, "Since HBM involves stacking many chips, various quality issues can arise, and performance must be comprehensively verified under diverse conditions such as SiP (System in Package) combined with GPUs, so the testing process inevitably takes a long time. It is important to establish a test baseline that can quickly validate products and secure high quality."
He added, "The most important thing is to develop products on time, ensure quality, and deliver them to customers. The HBM PE organization is making great efforts not only to enhance quality competitiveness but also to maximize product productivity."
Vice President Park stated that successfully commercializing 12-layer HBM3E and 6th generation HBM4 is the next goal. He said, "Based on objective data, we will build strong technical collaboration and trust relationships so that customers can understand the overwhelming performance and competitiveness of our products. In particular, we will focus on securing future backend technologies in preparation for the new HBM era."
He continued, "Going forward, HBM will diversify into customized products for each customer. Since new product design methods will be introduced and a paradigm shift is expected from a testing perspective, the HBM PE organization will establish collaborative processes with various stakeholders."
