Gangbuk-gu, Seoul (Mayor Lee Soon-hee) is launching a support program to install intrusion detection devices on building exteriors for housing safety-vulnerable households, such as single-person households.
The intrusion detection device detects intrusion attempts through gas pipes and other means using sensors, then emits voice alerts and lights up. This support project was promoted as a tailored security measure because a significant portion of the housing types in Gangbuk-gu consists of row houses, multi-family houses, and multi-household residences.
The district plans to complete the installation by November, prioritizing female single-person households living in row houses, multi-family houses, and multi-household residences, installing 4 to 5 devices each on the exterior walls of about 40 buildings, totaling 169 intrusion detection devices.
Residents wishing to apply for installation support must submit the application form, consent form from the housing owner, and a resident registration certificate issued within the last month to the responsible officer’s email or the Gangbuk-gu Women and Family Division Office 2 by September 25. The necessary forms can be downloaded from the Gangbuk-gu Office website. For more details, please contact the Women and Family Division.
Meanwhile, to ensure residents’ safety and prevent crime, Gangbuk-gu operates programs such as the ‘Safe Home Set 3 Types’?which includes smart doorbells, home CCTV, and front door safety devices?targeting single-person households living in Gangbuk-gu, as well as the ‘Safe Return Scout’ program to support residents’ safe return home.
Mayor Lee Soon-hee said, “I hope the installation of intrusion detection devices will help alleviate residents’ anxiety,” adding, “We will continue to do our best to build a crime prevention environment and create a safe and secure city, Gangbuk, where residents can feel safe.”
