The Central Labor Relations Commission announced that around 3 a.m. on the 4th, the labor and management of Gyeonggi buses reached a dramatic agreement on the 2024 wages and collective agreement during a mediation meeting at the Gyeonggi Regional Labor Relations Commission.
Earlier, the union had announced that they would launch a full strike starting with the first bus on the 4th due to unresolved differences between labor and management. In response, the Labor Relations Commission conducted overnight mediation to achieve a dramatic settlement.
Kim Tae-gi, Chairman of the Central Labor Relations Commission, said, "I thank both labor and management for their efforts to promptly resolve the wage and collective agreement negotiations through pre-mediation requests this year as well as last year," adding, "We will strive for peaceful resolution and stability in labor-management relations."
Since April last year, the Gyeonggi Regional Labor Relations Commission has formed a consultative body with the Bus Transportation Business Association, the Bus Union, and Gyeonggi Province to resolve bus disputes in the Gyeonggi area. They have also established a dedicated bus team within the Labor Relations Commission to support the resolution of bus disputes.
