Promoting Recovery of Chinese Travelers... Incheon Airport Corporation Partners with Trip.com

Strengthening Promotion with Hotel Discount Vouchers and Live Commerce

Incheon International Airport Corporation has partnered with the travel platform Trip.com to recover demand from Chinese travelers.

Incheon International Airport Corporation announced on the 3rd that it signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Trip.com for this purpose.

Accordingly, the two parties plan to cooperate on ▲ marketing and promotional activities to recover and revitalize the Chinese market ▲ building partnerships to increase Chinese passengers ▲ promoting the Incheon Airport brand image.

Before the COVID-19 situation, China accounted for 19% of passenger demand at Incheon Airport, but it has not yet recovered to previous levels. As of the first half of this year, the number of flights was 34,332 and passengers about 4.62 million, with a recovery rate remaining in the 70% range compared to 2019.

First, the two parties will hold the 'Incheon Airport Super Brand Day' for a week starting from the 9th to coincide with China’s largest holiday, National Day (October 1). Together with domestic airlines, they will offer various benefits such as airline ticket promotions and discount coupons usable at Incheon Airport facilities, duty-free shops, and nearby hotels.

In addition, Incheon Airport is preparing its first live commerce event. An influencer will visit the airport in person to promote the facilities of the second passenger terminal, scheduled to open at the end of this year, through a live broadcast, communicating in real time with Chinese viewers.

Furthermore, to strengthen strategic exchanges between the two parties, Hong Jong-min, head of Trip.com’s Korea branch, will participate as a panelist at the '2024 World Aviation Conference' held at Inspire Entertainment Resort starting from the 3rd.

Lee Hak-jae, president of Incheon International Airport Corporation, said, "This agreement will greatly help restore Incheon Airport’s Chinese network and generate passenger demand. With the completion of the fourth phase of construction by the end of this year, Incheon Airport’s capacity will expand to accommodate 100 million passengers. We will actively carry out diversified marketing activities by region to create passenger demand."
