Department of Cultural Heritage Studies and College of Advanced Convergence Renamed
Relaxation of Minimum CSAT Score Requirements in Essay Admissions
Dongguk University will select 1,917 students, accounting for 59.9% of the total recruitment, in this year's early admission. Major changes include the selection of the Interdisciplinary Major (Undeclared Major), an increase in the quota for advanced fields, and the relaxation of the minimum CSAT score requirement for the essay screening.
This year, Dongguk University is establishing the 'Open Major Division' and the 'College of Biosystems,' which select freshmen through a broad unit recruitment method. In the early admission, 109 students will be selected through the Principal's Recommendation Talent Screening.
Also, starting this year, the Department of Cultural Heritage has been renamed the Department of Cultural Heritage Studies, the AI (Artificial Intelligence) Convergence College has been renamed the College of Advanced Convergence, and the AI Software Convergence Department has been renamed the Department of Computer and AI. The names of colleges and departments have been changed accordingly.
By screening type, 835 students will be selected through the Comprehensive Student Record Screening, accounting for 44.8% of the early admission quota. Detailed screening types include ▲Do Dream ▲Do Dream (Software) ▲Buddhist Recommended Talent ▲Balanced Opportunity Integration ▲Special Education Target Screening, etc. In the first stage, selection is based 100% on comprehensive document evaluation according to the selection ratio of each screening type. In the second stage, the final successful candidates are determined by combining 70% of the first stage score and 30% of the interview evaluation.
In the Student Record Screening, the Principal's Recommendation Talent Screening selects students by combining 70% student record grades and 30% comprehensive document evaluation. The 70% student record grades reflect the top 10 subjects by rank grade within each academic track, and the 30% reflects the comprehensive document evaluation.
The essay screening is the only screening type in the early admission that applies the minimum CSAT score requirement. This year, 302 students will be selected through this screening. The final score is calculated by combining 70% essay score and 30% student record.
Starting from this year's early admission, the restriction on the inquiry subject area in the minimum CSAT score requirement for natural science fields (including the Department of Pharmacy and the Department of Computer and AI) has been lifted, allowing natural science applicants to meet the minimum CSAT score requirement by including social inquiry grades. Except for the 70% essay score, the remaining 30% is quantitatively reflected by 20% student record grades and 10% attendance. Student record grades are extracted and reflected only from the top 10 subjects by rank grade regardless of the academic track.
The practical skills and achievement-based screening will recruit a total of 174 students in departments such as ▲Department of Korean Language and Literature and Creative Writing ▲Department of Physical Education ▲Department of Fine Arts ▲Department of Theater (Practical and Special Talent types) ▲Department of Sports Culture ▲Department of Korean Music, etc.
