GICC has been held annually since 2013, hosted by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport and organized by overseas construction associations. It is the largest global infrastructure cooperation event in Korea. This year, more than 30 countries, including Tanzania, Panama, and Mongolia, are expected to participate in the event.

During the GICC schedule, on the 11th, Korail will take charge of the ‘Railroad Cooperation Special Session (Railroads Toward the Future)’ to introduce the excellence of Korea’s railroad operation systems and maintenance technologies in passenger, metropolitan, and logistics sectors to participating country officials, and to solidify the foundation for winning railroad infrastructure projects by expanding exchanges with overseas clients.

In particular, Korail plans to focus on producing tangible results by holding one-on-one high-level meetings with key strategic partner countries such as Mongolia, the United Arab Emirates (UAE), and Malaysia, and by preparing detailed cooperation plans including new project acquisitions.

On the last day of the GICC schedule (the 12th), overseas guests will be invited to visit railroad sites such as the Railroad Traffic Control Center located in Guro-gu, Seoul, and the KTX vehicle depot in Goyang City, providing an opportunity to tour Korea’s railroad operation systems and high-speed vehicle maintenance technologies.

A Korail official said, “The GICC held in Seoul will be an opportunity for Korail to lead close exchanges and cooperation with more than 30 countries,” adding, “Korail will focus on using this occasion to promote the competitiveness of domestic railroad technologies to the world and to strengthen its position in the global market.”
