Representative Park Sangwoong: "65 Billion Won in Agricultural Disaster Insurance Payments to Be Provided to Affected Farms"

On-site Investigation by the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs and Related Agencies ... Support Measures to Be Prepared

Park Sangwoong, a member of the National Assembly from the People Power Party representing Miryang, Uiryeong, Haman, and Changnyeong in Gyeongsangnam-do, announced on the 3rd that agricultural disaster insurance payments have begun due to the low fruit-setting rate of apples in Miryang Eoreumgol.

Out of the total 1,258 farms enrolled in the insurance, 727 farms, accounting for 57.7%, will receive a total insurance payout of 6.53 billion KRW.

As the fruit-setting rate of Miryang Eoreumgol apples remained at around 30% this year due to unknown disasters such as climate change, Representative Park visited the affected farms multiple times immediately after taking office in the 22nd National Assembly and conducted prompt on-site investigations.

He also requested various support measures from relevant organizations such as the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs and NongHyup Bank, and has made dedicated efforts by urging for the application of crop disaster insurance and active field investigations and support for substantial compensation for damages.

Representative Park stated, "As natural disasters caused by climate change are increasing, the compensation system for agricultural disasters must also be carried out swiftly and realistically," adding, "I will continue to do my best to prepare compensation and various policy and institutional support measures for damages caused by natural disasters."

Meanwhile, on the 27th of last month, Representative Park proposed a partial amendment to the 「Act on Measures for Agricultural and Fishery Disasters」, which mandates preemptive prevention of damages caused by agricultural disasters and requires immediate action and on-site investigations in the event of damage.
