Thirty Honorary Auditors Appointed to Oversee City Administration and Report Irregularities
On the 3rd, Changwon Special City in Gyeongnam held an appointment ceremony for 30 newly appointed Honorary Auditors at the City Hall Citizens' Hall.
This event was organized to present certificates of appointment and honorary auditor ID cards to those newly appointed as Honorary Auditors, following the expiration of the previous auditors' terms on August 23. Jang Geumyong, the First Vice Mayor of Changwon Special City, personally delivered the certificates and offered congratulations to the new Honorary Auditors.
Afterwards, a meeting was held for the Honorary Auditors to provide guidance and answer questions regarding the operation plan for Honorary Auditors, their roles, reporting methods for public officials' misconduct, and ways to suggest solutions for residents' inconveniences.
Vice Mayor Jang stated, "We will strive to make Changwon a special city of integrity that earns citizens' trust by improving unreasonable aspects of city administration through objective feedback and suggestions from outside the public sector," and added, "I ask for the active participation of all Honorary Auditors to achieve this goal."
Meanwhile, Honorary Auditors are individuals appointed by the Mayor of Changwon Special City to protect citizens' rights and interests from illegal or unfair administrative actions and to strengthen oversight of city administration by reporting corruption in vulnerable areas. This is a unique title used only in Changwon, equivalent to the Integrity Citizen Auditor of the Anti-Corruption and Civil Rights Commission.
