Second Largest Vineyard-style 2,000-seat Concert Hall in Korea
Thorough Inspections Including Equipment Test Runs Ahead of September Completion
Busan Urban Corporation (BMC, President Kim Yonghak) announced on the 3rd that the completion inspection request for Busan Concert Hall, the only large-scale classical music concert hall in Busan (part of the Busan International Art Center construction project), was submitted on the 30th of last month.
Located at 60 Yeonji-dong, Busanjin-gu, within Busan Citizens Park, Busan Concert Hall is a classical music-exclusive venue with a total floor area of 19,901㎡, consisting of one basement and three above-ground floors. It features 2,011 seats in the main hall, a 400-seat chamber hall (multipurpose small performance venue), and rehearsal rooms, making it the nation's second vineyard-style concert hall after the Lotte Concert Hall in Jamsil.
The construction project for Busan Concert Hall began after a consignment agreement was signed between Busan Metropolitan City and Busan Urban Corporation in January 2016. Construction started in January 2021, and after about three and a half years, the completion inspection request was submitted on the 30th of last month.
Prior to the completion inspection, President Kim Yonghak visited the site to personally check both indoor and outdoor facilities, including ▲ the exterior and landscape lighting of the concert hall ▲ trial operations of various facilities including fire safety equipment ▲ CCTV operation in the disaster prevention room ▲ cleanliness of the performance hall ▲ and the condition of trees in outdoor landscaping areas affected by the heatwave.
President Kim stated, "Through the successful completion of a world-class concert hall, we will ensure that Busan citizens can take pride and enjoy outstanding cultural and artistic performances," adding, "We will also carry out the remaining tasks without any setbacks to ensure everything is in perfect order until the handover to Busan Metropolitan City is complete."
