Seodaemun-gu, Direct Market for Chuseok on the 8th

Seodaemun-gu, Seoul (Mayor Lee Seong-heon) will hold a 'Chuseok Direct Transaction Market' around Hongje Waterfall Plaza in Seodaemun on the 8th of this month from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Forty-nine companies from 26 cities and counties nationwide will sell various holiday seasonal products such as Korean beef, fruits, Korean traditional sweets (Hangwa), ginseng, dried yellow corvina, dried vegetables, dried seafood, seaweed, cheonggukjang (fermented soybean paste), salted seafood, and sesame oil.

This event allows consumers to purchase fresh products from production areas at affordable prices because farmers and producer groups sell directly.

In addition to the market, there will be entertainment for citizens. At the performance booth, magic shows, Taekwondo demonstrations, and clown balloon performances will be held consecutively. At the food booth, merchants from local traditional markets, youth stores, and socially responsible businesses will sell songpyeon (rice cakes), fruits, kimchi pancakes, chive pancakes, tteokbokki, and beverages.

A traditional play experience booth will also be set up where visitors can make ddakji (folded paper cards), spinning tops, and three-colored songpyeon, and try games such as sabangchigi (four corners game), beonadoligi (ring toss), jegichagi (shuttlecock kicking), and soekotureolgi (iron ring hooking).

Mayor Lee Seong-heon said, "We hope many people will visit the Chuseok Direct Transaction Market, which not only reduces the burden of holiday shopping but also promotes coexistence between urban and rural areas and provides a place for families to enjoy together."

Meanwhile, in Seodaemun-gu, events will be held at Inwang Market (September 13?15), Pobangteo Market (September 9?14), Hongje Alley Shopping District (September 9?10), Yeongcheon Market (September 7?9), Yujin Arcade (September 9?11), and Baekryeon Market (September 11?13), where customers who purchase over a certain amount will receive Onnuri gift certificates and shopping bags as gifts.
