OCI Holdings recently announced on the 3rd that over 60 employees and their families participated as guide runners for visually impaired runners at the 10th "Harmony Marathon with the Visually Impaired," hosted by the Seoul Metropolitan Disabled Sports Association, held around Olympic Park in Songpa-gu, Seoul.

Since 2009, employees and their families from OCI Group affiliates have volunteered twice a year (spring and fall) as guide runners, running alongside visually impaired marathon runners belonging to the Korea Visually Impaired Marathon Club. This time, in addition to business companies OCI, OCI Information & Communication, OCI SE (Saemangeum Combined Heat and Power Plant), and OCI Dream (a standard workplace for the disabled), 14 employees and family members from Bukwang Pharmaceutical, which joined the OCI Group in 2022, also participated.

Participants started from the Peace Plaza at Olympic Park and completed either the 10km or 5km course, which included a turnaround point at the southern end of Jamsil Railway Bridge, running together with visually impaired marathoners. They finished the race relying on each other by connecting their wrists with specially made Trust Strings. Jang Dream, a manager who completed the 10km course with a visually impaired marathoner, said, "This is my third guide runner volunteer activity since last fall," adding, "It is a festival-like volunteer activity where anyone can come together and communicate, so I recommend it not only to myself but also to my family and acquaintances."

In addition to guide running, employees also participated in plogging (picking up trash while walking or jogging) by collecting litter around the event site. Seo Jin-seok, CEO of OCI Holdings, stated, "As part of sustainable ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) management centered on the holding company, we will continue to operate employee volunteer activities and various social contribution programs for the local community."

OCI Holdings operates various social contribution programs such as the "Love 1004 Campaign," which deducts 1,004 KRW from monthly salaries as a volunteer fund, and the "OCI Forest Care" project, which is being developed at Ichon Hangang Park in Yongsan-gu, Seoul, to protect the urban ecosystem and reduce carbon emissions.
