Chungnam Ranks 5th at the 59th National Skills Competition... Best Result in Away Matches The Chungnam representative team, which participated in the "2024 Gyeongsangbuk-do 59th National Skills Competition," competed in 46 categories with 125 athletes, winning 6 gold medals, 7 silver medals, 12 bronze medals, 14 excellence awards, and 25 encouragement awards.

The Chungnam representative team achieved its best-ever performance at an away competition in the '59th National Skills Competition 2024 in Gyeongsangbuk-do'.


According to the Chungnam branch of the Human Resources Development Service of Korea on the 2nd, the Chungnam team participated in 46 trades with 125 competitors, winning 6 gold medals, 7 silver medals, 12 bronze medals, 14 excellence awards, and 25 encouragement awards.


This ranks fifth among the 17 participating cities and provinces nationwide, marking the highest achievement for an away competition.


Key gold medals were won in six trades: Electrical Equipment (Cheonan Technical High School), Industrial Robot and Industrial Drone Control (Asan Smart Factory Meister High School), Polymechanics (Yeonmu Meister High School), Skin Care (Byeongcheon High School), and Communication Network Distribution Technology (Yesan Electronics Technical High School). In particular, the Skin Care trade demonstrated strong performance by winning the gold medal for the second consecutive year.


Additionally, the team achieved excellent results across various trades, winning 7 silver medals in 7 trades including Electrical Control, 12 bronze medals in 11 trades including Welding, 14 excellence awards in 13 trades including Industrial Electronic Devices, and 25 encouragement awards in 18 trades including Mold Making.


Chun Yoonsoo, head of the Chungnam branch of the Human Resources Development Service of Korea, said, "Excluding last year when the event was held in Chungnam, this is the best result ever achieved at a National Skills Competition held in another region," adding, "This achievement was made possible by the continued interest and support of related organizations such as the Chungnam Provincial Government, the Office of Education, and the Service, as well as the collective efforts of coaches and competitors, confirming the outstanding capabilities of skilled workers in Chungnam."


Meanwhile, winners of this competition will receive prize money and certificates: 10 million KRW for gold, 6 million KRW for silver, and 4 million KRW for bronze. First and second place winners will also qualify to compete in the national team selection for the International Skills Olympics to be held in Shanghai, China in 2026, and will be exempt from the practical exam for the Industrial Engineer license.
