Dongmyung University Holds 'Open Campus Career and College Fair'

Over 800 Students and Parents Nationwide Participate

Career Experience, Admission Counseling, Campus Tour, and More

The 'Open Campus Career and College Fair' at Tongmyong University was held on the university campus on the 31st of last month.

At the opening ceremony of the Open Campus, attended by around 800 students and parents from across the country, Jeon Ho-hwan, President of Tongmyong University, said, "You can only succeed if you do what you love and what you are good at," and provided a detailed introduction to the departments offered at Tongmyong University.

He went on to explain the importance of Do-ing education, which values challenge, practice, and experience, as well as the campus master plan centered around the soon-to-be-established Gyeongsang National University Animal Hospital, Pet Park, and campus-based retirement facilities.

The fair featured hands-on major experiences, one-on-one admissions counseling, and campus tours.

Kim Sujin, Dean of the Companion Animal College, said, "Reflecting Generation Z's interest in companion animals, many students participated," and added, "I hope the various programs provided by Tongmyong University were helpful in choosing their career paths and college majors."

Taekyungmin, who participated in the Companion Animal College hands-on experience, said, "I plan to apply to the Pet Grooming and Behavior Correction Department during early admissions," and added, "Through the experience, I was able to find a department that suits my aptitude and decide on my career path."

Students and parents flocked to the one-on-one college admissions counseling sessions, which were staffed by 11 career guidance teachers and 5 admissions officers from Tongmyong University.

Jo Gukhwe, a teacher from Bugyeong High School who participated in the counseling, said, "With early application deadlines approaching, most of the counseling focused on whether students' scores matched the requirements of their desired departments."

Oh Sunyoung, who came from Cheonan, Chungnam with her husband and their daughter, a senior in high school, said, "Through the admissions officer, we learned about the curriculum and overseas employment opportunities of the department my child is interested in," and added, "It was a valuable time to understand my child's aptitude and help her make a career decision."

Departments in the health field, such as Nursing, Occupational Therapy, Speech-Language and Audiology Rehabilitation, and Sports Rehabilitation, which offer stable employment opportunities, also attracted attention.

Professors from the Department of Speech-Language and Audiology Rehabilitation actively promoted the unique features of the department, emphasizing that students can develop practical skills in the lab and, after graduation, obtain professional licenses as speech-language pathologists or audiologists, enabling them to work at hospitals or open their own hearing aid centers or speech therapy clinics, earning high incomes while contributing to social welfare.

Kwak Okgeum, Director of Admissions Promotion at Tongmyong University, said, "Based on the Do-ing education philosophy, Tongmyong University offers many departments that blend tradition and practicality," and added, "The Open Campus, now in its third year, is showcasing the true value of Tongmyong University."

Tongmyong University will be recruiting 1,392 students for the 2025 academic year during the early admissions period from the 9th to the 13th of this month.
