Let's Run Park Busan Gyeongnam Reopens Horse Island After 5 Years

Reborn as an Ecological Park Serving as a Sanctuary for Various Migratory Birds and Plants

The green oasis for residents of Busan and Gyeongnam is returning once again.

Korea Racing Authority's LetsRun Park Busan-Gyeongnam (headed by Um Youngseok) will resume operations of the lake park "Horse Island" located within the racecourse starting from the 7th.

Horse Island is a lake park of about 99,000 square meters created within the LetsRun Park Busan-Gyeongnam racecourse. In the past, it hosted various events such as light festivals, but operations were suspended due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

After several years of rest, the lake at Horse Island has become a sanctuary for various migratory birds and plants, transforming into an ecological park. LetsRun Park Busan-Gyeongnam began maintenance earlier this year to provide the beautiful natural environment of Horse Island as a relaxation space for citizens.

Every weekend at Horse Island, visitors can take a tour train to enjoy the beautiful scenery of the lake and explore different areas of the park. The tour train departs from Derby Square, passes through the Pony Land underground passage, enters Horse Island, and travels about 1km along the lakeside trail.

Riding the retro-style, colorful tour train and feeling the gentle breeze allows visitors to truly connect with the nature they might usually overlook.

At the Horse Island lake, where the pristine natural environment remains intact, visitors can observe a variety of birds such as egrets, herons, and mallards, and also encounter mini horses leisurely resting by the fence.

The vibrant flower paths created around the lakeside offer healing to visitors, and the cool shade of trees and scattered gazebo shelters provide a relaxing holiday atmosphere.

In addition, the wide open road along the Horse Island lakeside is perfect for cycling. Family bicycles are available for rent, making it ideal for couples or families to ride together, and visitors with young children can bring kick scooters or inline skates to enjoy. With no uphill or downhill slopes, Horse Island offers the perfect environment for a refreshing ride against the backdrop of a tranquil lake and a pleasant breeze.

A LetsRun Park Busan-Gyeongnam official stated, "We plan to hold outdoor events such as walking competitions in the future so that people can enjoy the autumn atmosphere at Horse Island," adding, "We hope that Horse Island will become widely known as a comfortable place for relaxation and healing for many people."

On the same day, "Rookie Zone Derby" will officially open at Derby Square. "Rookie Zone Derby" is a newly created, stylish lounge space with a caf? atmosphere, designed to provide a resting area for park visitors and to host various experiential events.

All LetsRun Park visitors can use this space, and those who participate in events at Rookie Zone Derby will be offered free coffee and beverages.
