Jeonnam Provincial Office of Education Implements Five Major Short- and Long-Term School Work Tasks

The Jeonnam Provincial Office of Education announced on the 2nd that it will implement the ‘Short- and Long-term 5 Major Tasks for School Work Optimization’ to reduce school administrative workload and create an educational ecosystem.

The short-term 5 major tasks for school work optimization include ▲reducing the total volume of administrative work ▲improving the operation of events and meetings ▲activating the work database ▲expanding school budget autonomy ▲establishing a management system for educational administrative institutions. To this end, guidelines, regulations, and teaching and academic support materials previously communicated via official documents will be updated in the work database to support the field.

To support workload reduction, a cloud-based system called the ‘Intelligent NE Chatbot’ will be rapidly established, and an automated teaching administration program will be developed and distributed. During audits, requests for and submission of ledgers other than those kept at schools will be minimized, and school autonomy and administrative support will be expanded through integrated support of basic school operating expenses and reduction of public project initiatives.

Budgets supporting three areas?field trip expenses, camping training activity expenses, and on-site experiential learning expenses?will be integrated into ‘experiential learning expenses’ and provided as basic school operating expenses, while complex on-site experiential learning manuals will be simplified. The school autonomous project selection system will be abolished following criticism that it imposes additional workload on teachers, and basic school operating expenses will be supported through the main budget to be utilized according to each school’s circumstances.

The annual career education fair will also be abolished to allow students and teachers to focus on the curriculum, and tuberculosis test certificates submitted after hiring instructors will be improved to be submitted at the time of hiring starting February next year.

Superintendent Kim Dae-jung stated, “We will ensure that the time secured through support for school work efficiency is devoted to educational activities by achieving substantial reduction of administrative workload,” adding, “By promoting school-centered and field-first education policies, we will secure momentum for advancing the pressing task of glocal future education.”
