The Korea Federation of Savings Banks announced on the 2nd that it has installed a system in the joint financial application (app) for savings banks, 'SB Toktok Plus,' to prevent identity card forgery or alteration and voice phishing scams involving identity theft.
The system for verifying whether an identity card is a copy and for facial recognition comparison, which was launched on the 28th of last month, is applied during the identity card photographing stage in the process of opening a non-face-to-face account. To accurately verify the individual's identity, the system automatically determines whether the identity card is a photo or printed copy and compares the identity card photo with the face captured by facial recognition.
A representative of the Korea Federation of Savings Banks said, "Through a system equipped with new technology, we have enhanced the performance of fraud detection and the precision of identity verification," adding, "We will take the lead in preventing forgery and alteration and protecting financial consumers through continuous software upgrades and the application of new technologies so that the SB Toktok Plus app can be used with confidence.
