SK Hynix is launching another talent recruitment drive just two months after starting to secure talent. With the increase in semiconductor demand, the company plans to secure as many outstanding talents as possible to maintain technological competitive advantage, focusing on discovering talent that can be immediately deployed on-site upon hiring.

According to industry sources on the 2nd, SK Hynix will simultaneously announce the ‘Second Half New Employee Recruitment’ targeting those graduating in February next year and graduates, as well as the ‘Junior Talent’ recruitment for semiconductor-related professionals with 2 to 4 years of experience on the 10th. The scale of recruitment is expected to be in the triple digits. Applications will be accepted until the 23rd.

This recruitment is attracting significant industry attention as it comes just two months after the new and experienced employee recruitment conducted in July. SK Hynix is reportedly securing outstanding talent to enhance its technological competitiveness while maintaining its current leadership in high-bandwidth memory (HBM) amid the rapidly increasing demand for artificial intelligence (AI) semiconductors. SK Hynix needs engineers for AI memory semiconductor fields including HBM design and advanced packaging, as well as for the newly announced investments such as the Cheongju M15X and the U.S. advanced packaging production base.

In particular, the ‘Junior Talent’ track has the advantage of accepting prepared personnel with practical experience in the semiconductor industry who can be immediately deployed to the frontline. SK Hynix introduced this track when it shifted from biannual new employee recruitment to continuous recruitment starting in 2021.

New employee candidates applying for this recruitment will join the company in January next year after passing the document screening, SKCT (SK Competency Test), and interviews, while successful Junior Talent candidates will start working in February next year. Starting this week, SK Hynix will also hold recruitment briefing sessions related to the second half recruitment at major regional universities such as Kyungpook National University, Pusan National University, Chungbuk National University, Chungnam National University, and Chonnam National University. Briefing sessions were first held last week at Pohang University of Science and Technology and Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST).

Separately from the recruitment process, SK Hynix is also holding ‘Tech Day 2024,’ a recruitment event for master’s and doctoral candidates at five universities including Seoul National University until the 10th. Tech Day features the full attendance of executives such as Kim Juseon, Head of AI Infrastructure, Kim Jonghwan, Vice President in charge of DRAM development, Cha Seonyong, Vice President in charge of the Future Technology Research Institute, Choi Woojin, Vice President in charge of P&T, and Song Changrok, Vice President in charge of CIS development.

Samsung Electronics is also expected to soon begin recruiting talent to play an active role in the semiconductor market. The Device Solutions (DS) division is expected to recruit new personnel during the Samsung Group’s open recruitment for new employees, anticipated to take place early this month. The recruitment scale is also likely to be in the triple digits. Previously, Samsung Electronics recruited new and experienced employees across about 800 job positions in February and July. The recruited talents are currently working at Samsung Electronics’ major production sites including Hwaseong, Giheung, Pyeongtaek, Cheonan, Onyang, and Suwon.

In addition to recruitment, Samsung Electronics held the ‘Tech & Career (T&C) Forum’ at six universities at the end of last month to discover high-level talents such as master’s and doctoral candidates for the semiconductor sector. It is reported that they focused particularly on talents who will work on next-generation products and solutions such as HBM and Compute Express Link (CXL).
