DeepMind Platform (hereinafter DeepMind) announced on the 30th that it has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) related to a drone filming project for safety inspections of public and private facilities, together with Clover Studio and the Korea CM Society.
The signing ceremony was successfully held with the attendance of executives from each company, including Hong Sang-hyuk, CEO of DeepMind, Yoon Jae-ho, Chairman of the Korea CM Society, and Choi Tae-in, CEO of Clover Studio.
This agreement aims to combine the specialized technologies and resources possessed by each company to effectively conduct safety inspections of public and private buildings and to present a new safety inspection standard called ‘facility inspection’ using drone filming technology.
A DeepMind representative stated, “Through this business agreement, we plan to actively promote the facility safety inspection business using drones,” adding, “We will accurately diagnose structural issues of public facilities and private buildings through drone filming technology and propose effective maintenance and management plans based on the results.”
The company emphasized that drone filming is realized with high-resolution images and video data is collected quickly and safely, significantly improving efficiency compared to traditional manpower-centered inspection methods. In particular, it is expected to play a major role in preventing safety accidents as inspections can be conducted even in hard-to-reach high-rise buildings or hazardous areas.
A DeepMind representative predicted, “If inspections and safety diagnoses using drones become widespread, this technology can expand and be applied across various industrial fields,” adding, “Drone technology can become an essential tool in areas such as maintenance of large-scale infrastructure facilities like bridges, tunnels, and dams.”
Furthermore, they said, “This agreement will serve as an important stepping stone to prepare for the future of the construction industry and to foster related technologies and manpower,” and added, “The three companies will build a continuous cooperative relationship and are expected to contribute to enhancing the safety and efficiency of the domestic construction industry.”
A representative from the Korea CM Society stated, “Through this agreement, we plan to develop drone filming education programs and train specialized personnel required for facility inspections.”
They continued, “With the introduction of new business models combining drone and AI (artificial intelligence) technologies, the growth of related industries is expected to be accelerated,” emphasizing, “We will spare no effort to further develop Korea’s drone filming and analysis technologies and help them gain competitiveness in the global market through various support.”
A construction industry official said, “If facility inspections using drone filming technology become standardized, maintenance costs of facilities can be reduced, and safety accidents can be prevented in advance through precise diagnosis, significantly lowering social costs as well.”
