The 'Jongno Welfare Foundation,' which will serve as a hub for providing customized welfare services for residents, will be launched on the 4th. Jongno-gu, Seoul (District Mayor Jeong Munheon) announced on the 2nd that the foundation's inauguration ceremony will be held at 3 p.m. at the Seoul Museum of History.
Jongno-gu stated, "The Jongno Welfare Foundation was established in response to the increasing and diverse welfare needs of residents due to demographic and social changes such as aging, low birth rates, and the rise of single-person households. It aims to flexibly respond to these needs and quickly support welfare blind spots through a specialized organization." They added, "It is also expected to contribute to solving issues related to insufficient infrastructure and supply disparities between regions."
After two years of preparation, the foundation will officially launch with an inauguration ceremony on the day and will be based on the 7th floor of the district office annex, starting operations with 20 staff members across three teams.
Focusing on 'promoting a culture of donation and establishing a welfare safety net,' 'expanding welfare infrastructure through resource linkage,' and 'enhancing field-centered welfare expertise based on strengthening the capabilities of welfare workers,' the foundation plans to concentrate on improving residents' quality of life.
In particular, it aims to carefully monitor residents in blind spots and provide comprehensive welfare services by integratively utilizing public and private resources. Approximately 300 people, including residents and social welfare officials, will attend the inauguration ceremony on the 4th.
District Mayor Jeong Munheon said, "The foundation's launch is an important first step in systematically and professionally addressing local welfare issues," adding, "We will work together with the foundation to eliminate welfare blind spots and realize customized welfare that benefits all Jongno-gu residents, regardless of age or gender."
