Gwanak-gu Mayor Park Jun-hee Listens to Voices from the Field... Operating 'Mobile Gwanakcheong(聽)' Park Jun-hee, Mayor of Gwanak District

Gwanak-gu (District Mayor Park Jun-hee) is intensifying its “Listening to Gain Hearts (以聽得心)” communication administration by directly visiting sites to hear residents' opinions up close.

Since the beginning of Mayor Park Jun-hee’s first term in the 7th local government, the district has implemented “Gwanakcheong (聽)” as its first pledge project, practicing the core values of district administration: “communication and cooperation.”

Gwanakcheong (聽) is a communication forum held every Thursday at the district office, where various voices from residents aiming to make Gwanak a better place to live pour out. The district carefully reviews complaints and policies proposed through Gwanakcheong and actively reflects residents’ opinions in administration.

Along with this, starting from August 26 in Bora-mae-dong, the district began operating the “Mobile Gwanakcheong (聽)” for residents who find it difficult to visit the district office directly.

Mayor Park plans to visit all 21 neighborhoods in person by September 23 to listen closely to voices from the field. The Mobile Gwanakcheong sessions are arranged to share ▲major district administration updates ▲commend exemplary residents ▲and hold conversations with residents, providing time for communication.

Residents participating in the Mobile Gwanakcheong (聽) expressed enthusiastic responses, saying, “I am grateful and feel relieved to be able to meet and talk directly with the district mayor in my own neighborhood.”

Through the Mobile Gwanakcheong (聽), issues that can be resolved immediately are answered on-site to clear up residents’ concerns. Matters requiring review are promptly checked by relevant departments, and the results are communicated back to the residents.

Meanwhile, last year, the district also toured all 21 neighborhoods under the spirit of “Wumunhyeondap (Our problems have answers on site),” handling 250 suggestions closely related to residents’ daily lives.

In particular, the “Online Gwanakcheong,” which allows anyone to participate freely without restrictions of time and place, was selected as an innovation case in the public sector by the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) in 2022.

Mayor Park Jun-hee said, “I came to listen to the residents’ ‘real stories’ and vivid voices,” adding, “With the attitude of Listening to Gain Hearts (以聽得心), which means gaining trust through attentive listening, we will build trust in administration and seek ways to operate the district government that residents can feel and empathize with.”
